Where it began
Knowledge passed
from hand to hand.
Manou Africa learned the craft of building and painting alongside his father in Senegal, West Africa, as a teenager. Today, he brings more than 40 years of hands-on experience with surfaces, materials, tools, preparation, and finish.
He is an artist first. For Manou, craftsmanship lives in the work itself: understanding a surface, noticing how light meets color, and giving the final details the attention they deserve.
Craft & relationship
A good finish begins
with listening.
Kalpana Devi brings a deep commitment to relationship and communication. She listens for what a client wants to accomplish, what a project means to them, and what needs to be understood clearly along the way.
Together, Manou and Kalpana have built Lion Paws Painting around the belief that skilled work and genuine care are inseparable. The result matters. So does the experience of getting there.
How we work
Care for the craft.
Respect for the whole project.
Quality begins long before the final coat: careful preparation, protection of surrounding surfaces, the right products and processes, and a thorough final walkthrough.
We work with clients, builders and other trades to understand what success looks like for the whole project. That means protecting the work that came before us and leaving the next person in a good position to succeed.
If something changes or could affect the schedule, quality or another trade, we communicate early and bring possible solutions. We want to build lasting working relationships through clear expectations, follow-through and mutual respect.
The next generation
Building something
we intend to last.
Lion Paws is growing as a multigenerational family company. Naia and Ashie contribute their own strengths, bringing the experience of their parents into a new chapter of the work.
Yahsi is emerging as a future owner and a driving force for the family’s legacy. This is a story still being written, with knowledge, leadership, and care passed forward. We want that growth to create opportunity for our family, people working in the trades, and the communities where we live and work.
